Valencia holidays and breaks
2026—2027
Spain sets its public holidays at three levels, and every city ends up with a different calendar. A year holds at most fourteen paid holidays: twelve come from the state and the autonomous community, and the town hall adds two more. So Valencia can be closed on a day when Madrid is at work.
Set by the Spanish government and observed across the country: New Year, Good Friday, Christmas and other dates. An autonomous community may swap some of them for its own.
Added by the Generalitat for the whole Valencian Community. The main one is 9 October, Day of the Valencian Community.
Two days a year are picked by each town hall, and the next town over picks different ones. In Valencia they usually fall around Fallas — 19 March, San José, for example.
